MCC NEET UG Counselling 2025 Round 2: What’s Going On
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), which handles the NEET UG counselling for MBBS/BDS seats across India, has released a revised schedule for Round 2 counselling. Everything is being done through the official MCC website: mcc.nic.in.
The reason for revision is that there have been changes in the seat matrix (some new seats added), extension requests, verification of certain documents (including NRI, PwD), and to make sure all candidates get a fair chance.
Important Dates You Must Know
Here are the key dates for Round 2 counselling after the schedule was revised. If you are participating, mark them well:
Activity | Deadline / Date |
---|---|
Registration for Round 2 ends | September 14, 2025, up to 12:00 noon |
Choice filling (i.e. selecting preferred colleges & courses) ends | September 15, 2025, 8:00 AM |
Choice locking (you lock what you filled so it’s final) | From September 14, 2025, 1:00 PM to September 15, 2025, 8:00 AM |
Seat allotment result will be declared | September 17, 2025 |
Reporting / Joining allotted institute | Between September 18 → September 23, 2025 |
Verification of candidates who joined | September 26 → September 27, 2025 |
A few more notes:
The revised schedule was uploaded on September 13, 2025.
MCC has also updated notices like “Newly Added Seats Round 2” and “UG State Schedule 2025”. These are visible on mcc.nic.in, under UG Medical Counselling.
What You Need to Do (Step by Step)
If you are a candidate, here’s what you must do so you don’t miss anything:
Register on MCC website
If you haven’t registered yet for Round 2 counselling, go to mcc.nic.in, UG Medical Counselling section, and do registration before the deadline.Pay the counselling/registration fee
During registration, you’ll need to pay a required fee. Ensure you complete payment within the given time.Fill choices of colleges/courses
After registering, you pick which colleges + courses you want, in preference order. This choice filling window is open until September 15, 8:00 AM.Lock your choices
Once you fill choices, you must “lock” them during the locked time slot (Sep 14, 1 PM to Sep 15, 8 AM) so that your preferences are final. If you don’t lock, your earlier filled choices may not be considered.Wait for the seat allotment result
MCC will process the selections and allot seats. Result is expected on September 17.If allotted, report to institute
If you get a seat, you must report physically (or as instructed) to the allotted college between September 18-23. Carry all necessary documents.Document verification
After you join, the institute will verify your documents (class 10/12 mark sheets, NEET scorecard, identity, category certificate etc.). This will happen around September 26-27.
What “Seat Processing Begin” Means
When people say seat processing begin, that refers to MCC starting to match your locked choices + your rank + the availability of seats in colleges + reservation categories etc.
Once choice filling & locking is done, MCC software “processes” the allotments. It takes into account:
Your rank in NEET UG
Your preference list (which colleges/courses you chose)
Seat matrix (how many seats remain in each college + type)
Reservation categories (General / OBC / SC / ST / PwD)
Then after processing, MCC will release the seat allotment/result. Then you can see if you got your preferred college or course.
Key Documents You Should Have Ready
To avoid last‐minute problems, keep these documents ready:
NEET 2025 Admit Card
NEET 2025 Scorecard / Result
Class 10 certificate / marksheet (for age / birth date)
Class 12 certificate / marksheet (or equivalent)
Photo ID proof (Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID etc.)
Passport size photos
Caste / Category certificate (if applicable)
PwD Certificate (if applicable)
Any other document required by the institute you join
Where to Keep Checking for Official Updates
mcc.nic.in — This is the official MCC website. Any updates about schedule, notices, newly added seats will be posted here.
Also check the “Current Events UG” section on MCC site. That shows latest relevant notices.
Keep an eye on notifications or “Schedule” PDFs on MCC website so you know if something changes again.
What Has Changed & Why
Because NEET counselling is big, sometimes things change. For example:
Seat matrix got updated (new seats added). So earlier dates had to be shifted.
Some categories of candidates (NRI, PwD) needed document verification, which caused delays. MCC gave extra time for PwD certificate generation.
The closing/locking / filling windows saw extensions. So deadlines were pushed a little.
These changes impact many students, so being alert is helpful.
Things to Watch Out For / Tips
Don’t wait until the last hour to register/fill choices. Servers may be slow.
Double check your choices before locking. Once choices are locked, they can’t normally be changed.
If you belong to reserved categories or have special status (PwD, NRI etc.), make sure your certificates are in proper format, valid, correctly uploaded.
When result comes, check it carefully. If you get a seat, follow the reporting instructions fully.
Colleges often have fixed dates to join. Missing that window can lead to losing the seat.
