Selection Process — How Students Are Chosen

Getting the scholarship depends on merit and financial need. Here is how LIC selects students:

  • First, they will check your academic marks (Class 10 or Class 12, or equivalent) — you need at least 60%.

  • Then they check your family income. The scholarship is meant for families with income ≤ ₹4,50,000 per year. In many cases, those with lower income (e.g. under ₹2,50,000) are given priority.

  • If two or more students have the same marks, then the one with lower-income parents/guardian gets preference.

  • The special scholarship for girls is limited to certain courses and certain years. Only for two years after Class 10 in Intermediate / Diploma / ITI etc. Students under this scheme must meet the conditions each year to continue.

  • The funds are given through LIC Divisional Offices. Selected students need to verify documents, provide bank account details (including IFSC, cancelled cheque etc.) for disbursement via NEFT.

Renewal & Conditions

If you get the scholarship, there are some conditions to keep getting it every year:

  • Maintain minimum passing marks or required percentage in your current year/semester. For medical/engineering, etc., there is often a higher pass mark needed.

  • Be regular in attendance as required.

  • Continue taking part in the same course stream you applied for (unless there is a rule for switching with limitations).

  • Keep your bank account active (not dormant) since money is transferred there.

If you fail to meet these, the scholarship may be discontinued.
