What is this recruitment about?
Canara Bank has announced a recruitment drive in 2025 for Graduate Apprentices under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961. The bank aims to fill 3,500 apprentice seats across India. This is a good chance for recent graduates to get practical training in banking.
These apprentice roles are not permanent jobs. You will be doing training and assisting in a bank branch for one year. During this period, you will get a stipend (a monthly amount) for your work.

Who can apply? (Eligibility)
Before applying, check whether you qualify. Here are the eligibility rules in simple terms:
Age limit
- You must be at least 20 years old as on 1 September 2025.
- You must not be older than 28 years as on that date.
- There are age relaxations for candidates from reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC etc.) as per rules.
Also, you should have been born between 1 September 1997 and 1 September 2005 (inclusive) if applying in the general category.
Education qualification
- You must have a graduate degree (i.e. you passed Graduation) in any stream, from a university recognized by the Government of India.
- Your graduation should have been completed between 1 January 2022 and 1 September 2025 (both dates inclusive).
Marks requirement for 12th / Diploma
- For General / OBC / EWS categories, you need 60% marks in 12th or equivalent/ Diploma.
- For SC / ST / PwBD (Persons with Disability), the required minimum is 55% marks.
Local language knowledge
- You must know the local language (read, write, speak) of the state in which you apply.
- If your 10th or 12th class already has local language subject, you might be exempted from the test.
Other conditions
- You must register on the Apprenticeship portal (NATS) and have a 100% complete profile.
- You must be medically fit.
How many vacancies? (Distribution)
There are 3,500 apprentice seats in total.
The vacancies are divided state-wise and by category. For example:
- General: ~1,534
- OBC: ~845
- SC: ~557
- ST: ~227
- EWS: ~337
Also, states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh are allocated larger shares.
Selection process (How will they choose you?)
This recruitment is simpler than many others. You won’t face a written exam. Instead, these are the steps:
- Merit list
The bank will prepare a merit list state-wise based on your marks in 12th standard or Diploma.- You must meet minimum marks (60% for general/OBC/EWS; 55% for SC/ST/PwBD).
- Local language test
If you haven’t studied the local language before, you may be asked to take a language test. - Document verification
If you are selected in merit list, you will be asked to show your documents (education, age, identity, etc.). - Medical fitness
You must pass medical fitness criteria to join.
If you clear all, you become an apprentice for one year.
What will you get (Stipend / Job details)?
- You will get a monthly stipend (like a salary during training) of ₹15,000 per month.
- The stipend is divided: ₹10,500 is paid by Canara Bank; ₹4,500 is given by the Government via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to your bank account.
- You will not get any extra allowances like travel, house rent etc.
- The apprenticeship period is one year only.
- After apprenticeship, there is no guarantee of permanent employment. It depends on bank’s policy and performance.
During this time, you will work in bank branches, assist with operations, learn how banking works, interact with customers, and do tasks under supervision.

- Create your profile, fill in details fully, and get an enrollment ID.

- Find the link “Graduate Apprentice 2025” or “Apply Online”
- Fill application form
- Login using your enrollment ID and other credentials
- Enter your personal, educational, and contact details

- Photo, signature, ID proof, mark sheets, graduation certificate, etc.
- Ensure file formats and sizes are as per instructions
- Pay application fee (if applicable)
- General / OBC / EWS have to pay ₹500
- SC / ST / PwBD have no fee (exempted)
